Help Build a Greener Future: Join the Riverside County Department of Waste Resources as an Outreach Volunteer Moreno Valley, CA – The Riverside County Department of Waste Resources (RCDWR) manages five active landfills, provides FREE household hazardous waste collection services, and offers a variety of sustainability and outreach programs for County residents. For more than 30 years, the Department’s composting and volunteer program has empowered residents to become green heroes by providing education and training on composting, recycling, and zero waste practices. Typical volunteer opportunities include outreach such as conducting presentations and classes, staffing information booths at various community events to promote Department programs and answer questions and serving as mentors for community or school gardens. Volunteers may also assist with maintaining the Department’s resource garden, building worm bins for composting and vermicomposting workshops, and supporting special community events such as our annual Teacup Succulent Workshop through set-up and tear-down activities. Attend one of our upcoming Volunteer Orientation Training meetings to learn more and get involved! All walk-ins welcome. Volunteers must be at least 15 years old.
