Residents are invited to support waste reduction, recycling, and environmental education.

Moreno Valley, CA – The County of Riverside Department of Waste Resources invites community members to attend its first Volunteer Orientation Training of the year on Saturday, January 31. This training is the first of three volunteer orientation training courses that will be offered in 2026 for residents interested in supporting environmental education and waste reduction efforts.

Volunteers play a key role in helping the department connect with residents through public education, school programs, and community events. Volunteers assist with topics such as composting, recycling, and waste reduction while helping promote department programs throughout the county.

The January 31 training will prepare volunteers with the information and resources needed to confidently engage the public and serve as trusted messengers in their communities. The training will be held at Waste Resources’ Headquarters located at 14310 Frederick Street Moreno Valley, 92582.

“This program is a great way for residents to get involved, give back, and help lead change in their own community,” said Mike Perez, Waste Resources’ Volunteer Services Coordinator. George Podolsky also a Volunteer Service Coordinator, added, “Our volunteers are the heart of our outreach efforts, and together we’re making a tremendous difference.”

Volunteer Requirements:

  • Must be at least 15 years old
  • Bilingual volunteers are especially needed
  • Training provided – no prior experience necessary

Once trained, volunteers will join a strong network of community leaders who are committed to sustainability and environmental stewardship.
